Single Hand and Double Hand Fly Fishing Lessons

Have you ever wanted to learn to fly-fish, cast a single or two-handed rod, or want to learn more? Whether you are wanting to learn the basics or advance your skills in casting and fishing a single hand or two-handed rod, a class with Mia will get you on the water with confidence. Mia has over 13 years’ experience teaching new and advanced anglers. To date, Mia has taught anglers in advanced techniques and has demonstrated for fly fishing groups, and presented at a number of spey claves and is a world champion spey caster.  Her teaching style incorporates, hands-on, demonstrations, and verbal analogy’s that help you acquire in depth knowledge and mastery of the sport.

Learn to Fly Fish – Single Hand

This 4-hour class is designed for those that are new to the sport or have limited experience.  This class will introduce you to the skills you need to get on the water from casting a single hand or two-handed rod, equipment, basic knots, reading water, fly selection and etiquette. Class includes the use of a rod, flies and a snack.

• Waders and Boots

Intro to Casting
• Casting Fundamentals
• Roll Cast
• Basic Overhead Cast (single hand)
• Change of Direction Cast, Circle Spey and Double Spey (two handed class)

Basic Knots & Rigging
• Connect leader to line
• Attach tippet to the leader
• Fly to the tippet
• Rig for dry flies and nymphs (single hand class)

On the Water
• Where are the fish
• Local fishing Opportunities
• Etiquette
• Fish Handling

Fishing the Fly
• Presentation of fly
• Managing line

Private Instruction – scheduled per hour by appointment.
$55 for one
$45 each for two
$35 each for three

Group Instruction (4-6 people) – Can be arranged by appointment. Group classes are 4 hours of instruction.  $125 per person
